A long, open beachbreak 15km south of Itacaré, Itacarezinho delivers mellow rolling peaks with defined lefts near the northern rocks that make it a consistent option when the rest of the Bahia coast is either flat or maxed out. NE through S swells all find the beach, and westerly offshores clean it up nicely. The wave starts breaking under 1m and holds to 2.5m-plus, so it covers a wide size range without becoming unmanageable. Beginners and early intermediates will feel comfortable here, the lineup stays uncrowded even on weekends. Bottom: mixed sand and coral reef. Season: year-round. Consistency: high. On bigger swells, watch the currents created by the trenches and outside coral sections before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends see only a few surfers and weekdays are quieter still. No notable localism. The vibe is relaxed, which matches the wave. Dawn patrol is rarely necessary but is always pleasant given the westerly offshores that hold through the morning.

Access & Facilities

Follow the signed turnoff 15km south of Itacaré. There is a paid car park with a small entrance fee. Buses from Itacaré run cheaply and taxis are available. A restaurant and fresh water are on site, and a lifeguard is posted on the beach. No significant pollution or hazard concerns beyond the rip currents on bigger swells.

Nearby Alternatives

When Itacarezinho is too small, Tiririca in Itacaré town picks up more swell and offers barreling banks. For a longer drive, Boca da Barra delivers a super-long fun righthander across sandbanks. Jeribucaçu rivermouth, 9km away, holds regular left and right beachbreak peaks for those willing to make the trip.
