Stanley's ghost still shows up on the right swell, even though the original hollow right was paved over for Highway 101 back in 1970. The modern incarnation, known as Offramps, fires up on a large, short-period W windswell at medium tide, throwing a quick, hollow right that drains over a shallow sandbar just off the Seacliff Exit. It doesn't work often, and by all accounts it doesn't match the legend of its predecessor, but when conditions align it delivers a punchy little barrel worth the stop. Intermediate to advanced surfers will get the most out of it when it's on, and the crowd is typically minimal given how infrequently it breaks. Bottom: sand. Season: February through May. Consistency: low to moderate. Get there at low tide on a solid W windswell and you'll catch it at its most defined and hollow.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is typically empty or close to it, largely because the wave demands specific conditions and isn't consistent enough to draw a regular crowd. The local vibe is welcoming. No pressure, no politics. Dawn patrol isn't necessary here for crowd reasons, but it's still the best light.

Access & Facilities

Take the Seacliff Exit from Highway 101 and you're on top of it. Access is straightforward. Watch for rocks on the inside, especially at lower tides. Water quality is generally clean but can degrade after heavy rain. No dedicated surf facilities on site.

Nearby Alternatives

If Offramps isn't showing, the broader Santa Cruz stretch has consistent beach and point options north and south along the coast. Capitola and the river mouth peaks nearby offer sand bottom alternatives when the W swell is too small or the tide isn't cooperating.
