A long, punchy right-hand reef break on Puerto Rico's northeast coast that locals have quietly protected for decades. It works best on NE to E swell, 4-8ft, at mid tide when the reef ledge pitches hard and walls up across a 150-300m run on a good day. SW winds are offshore. The walk-in alone filters the lineup: weekdays you may share the water with nobody, weekends with just a few surfers. Bottom: reef. Season: Nov-Mar peak, can fire year-round on right NE pulse. Consistency: moderate but rewarding when it connects. The reef gets extremely shallow near the beach on the inside, making duck-dives through whitewater genuinely dangerous. Bring reef booties, pack your own water and food, and keep your gear secured since theft has been reported at this spot. Experienced surfers only.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Locals actively keep this spot low-profile. Respect that. Weekday sessions can be empty, weekends see a handful of surfers. Do not bring large groups, do not broadcast exact access, and give priority to anyone already in the water. The crowd stays small because the access is genuinely hard, not because nobody knows it exists.

Access & Facilities

No facilities. No parking lot, no lifeguards, no showers. The walk in is roughly 2-2.5 miles across soft sand and a rural track, and it is tiring. Watch for cattle on the path, they are not always docile. Secure all valuables before paddling out since unattended gear has gone missing. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and food. Nearest services are back toward Luquillo.

Nearby Alternatives

Luquillo Beach and La Pared, just west along the coast, offer more accessible waves in a range of conditions and are worth checking first before committing to the walk. When NE swell is small, beach peaks at La Pared can be more productive for the effort.
