A serious big-wave left breaks off Little Pedro Point at the south end of Linda Mar, demanding size before it shows its hand. The wave needs W, NW, or N swell pushing 8-10ft face height before it wakes up, and it holds well past double-overhead into legitimate gun territory. E or SE winds keep it clean, incoming tide fills in the better sections. This is advanced-only terrain on the outside, where the open-ocean exposure and giant boulders toward the inside make mistakes costly. Bottom: rock reef. Season: December through February. Consistency: fickle, good once or twice a year. Sit well inside the red triangle with no nearby paddling buddy and you are taking an unnecessary risk on both counts.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday crowds are thin to nonexistent, and the wave does not draw a crowd unless it is genuinely firing. When it does switch on, word travels fast and the small peak fills up quickly. Local homeowners on the point are protective of access and private property. Keep a low profile, respect the fence line, and you will be fine. Localism is manageable but present on good days.

Access & Facilities

Park near the point without crossing into private property, or paddle from the Boat House at the south end of Linda Mar. Limited roadside parking available. No facilities at the break itself. Linda Mar beach has amenities a short distance up the coast. Water quality is fair and can deteriorate after rain. Paddle out with a buddy on the outside. This is the heart of the red triangle.

Nearby Alternatives

When Pedro Point is too small or conditions are off, Linda Mar (Pacifica) runs directly to the north with consistent beach-break peaks across a wider size and skill range. Rockaway Beach in Pacifica also picks up swell and can offer cleaner conditions on different wind angles.
