Cobblestone reef peaks at Hobson County Park, just south of Seacliff off old Pacific Coast Highway, deliver two distinct rides from a single break. S through NW swells activate the spot, but winter NW juice brings out the best in both peaks. The north peak produces long, fast lefts, the south peak runs mushy, sectiony rights that eventually close out onto an inner sandbar. Suitable for beginners through intermediates, though the crowd is a regular fixture. Bottom: submerged cobblestone reef. Season: consistent year-round, peaks in winter. Consistency: high. Pack a longboard or mid-length for the slower south rights, and time your session early to beat the crowd.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Hobson draws crowds regularly, likely due to its consistency and easy access off PCH. Dawn patrol or weekday sessions are the obvious workaround. The beginner-friendly south peak adds to the numbers, so expect sharing. Localism is not flagged as a major issue, but standard lineup respect applies.

Access & Facilities

Access is directly off old Pacific Coast Highway, just south of Seacliff. A carpark makes access straightforward. A small campground on site is a practical option for multi-day trips. No pollution or hazard concerns are noted.

Nearby Alternatives

Rincon, a short drive to the north, is the obvious upgrade when size and swell direction align. The peaky beachbreak just south of Rincon along the highway is worth checking on smaller days when Hobson is crowded.
