A long, right-hand cobblestone point in Ventura, C Street is one of Southern California's most accessible and well-rounded setups, strung across three-quarters of a mile of coastline in front of the Ventura County Fairgrounds. The wave responds best to long-period S, SW, W, and NW swells with E to NE offshores and works from low to mid tide. Size range is head-high and above, with the interior section, Inside Point, coming alive on minus low tides and solid winter pulses to produce long, flawless walls that reel toward the pier. The complex suits everyone from beginners on foamies to experienced shortboarders threading the occasional hollow section at the top of the point. Bottom: cobblestone with variable sand. Season: fall and winter primary, with SW swell windows in summer. Consistency: moderate to high in winter. Weekends draw heavy crowds, so dawn patrol on a weekday is your best shot at breathing room.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Pipe is the most crowded break in Ventura, full stop. A tight dawn patrol crew holds it down on weekdays, and a large contingent of weekend warriors fills in around them. Localism is minimal these days, but the sheer volume of surfers, many on oversized boards, makes collision risk real. Respect the lineup, don't snake, and watch for errant logs swinging wide.

Access & Facilities

Pay parking machines line the boardwalk at a dollar an hour, so bring cash or a card. Bathrooms, showers, and a paved walkway make this one of the more comfortable lineups to visit in Ventura County. Water quality is rated fair, typical for a rivermouth-adjacent break after rain events.

Nearby Alternatives

If C Street is maxed out or blown out, the Ventura Rivermouth a short distance north offers a rawer, less polished version of the same swell window. Rincon, roughly 15 km south toward Carpinteria, is the move when long-period NW swells stack up and you want right-hand walls without the resort infrastructure.
