A north-facing beachbreak on Ibiza's northeast coast, Aguas Blancas is the island's go-to call when a proper N swell fills in during winter. It needs that northerly window to fire, picking up swell from NW through E, with westerly winds blowing offshore and keeping faces clean. Size range is 1-8ft but the wave quality is generally poor to average, with sloppy, sectiony conditions the norm. A rare big winter day can produce a notable right breaking over a rock ledge, though it has been ridden only a handful of times. Best suited to beginners and bodyboarders, with the odd travelling surfer showing up in the colder months. Bottom: sand. Season: winter (Nov-Mar). Consistency: medium. Bring a board you don't mind bouncing off uneven sections, and check conditions before making the drive down the rough, steep access road.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

In summer the beach fills with local islanders, holiday crowds, and bodyboarders, but the surf is rarely worth competing for. Winter sees only the occasional surfer. No notable localism pressure. The semi-nudist beach vibe is relaxed and easygoing.

Access & Facilities

Reach via a couple of rough, steep access roads from the main road above the beach. Parking is free but limited at the bottom. Walk down from the top if the lower spots are full. No facilities on the beach. Bring water and anything else you need.

Nearby Alternatives

If Aguas Blancas is too sloppy or flat, Cala Nova is another Ibiza option in similar swell windows, though Aguas Blancas is generally more consistent. For more structured surf, the Balearics are thin on reliable options and most travellers are here for the island experience rather than the waves.
