A variable beachbreak on Mallorca's northeast coast, Canyamel fires up fast, tubey barrels when a clean NE swell pushes into its small window, but can flip to soft and gutless in the same week. Optimal size is 1-4ft, anything bigger and the wave loses its shape. Westerly winds groom the surface. The break works across all tides, though sandbars have shifted following recent construction, making quality less predictable than it once was. Intermediate surfers will get the most from it, but the 'Canyamel Boys' local crew commands respect in the lineup. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through winter when NE fetch builds. Consistency: medium. Check the swell forecast closely before committing the drive, as the narrow swell window means flat days outnumber firing ones.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The Canyamel Boys are an established local crew. The lineup is often busy when the swell is on, partly because good days here are rare enough that everyone paddles out at once. Basic lineup etiquette and genuine respect for locals will avoid friction. Dawn patrol helps on weekends.

Access & Facilities

There is a car park at the beach. No surf-specific facilities on site. The nearby village is one of the more charming spots in Mallorca with food and supplies available. Water quality is clean with no reported pollution concerns.

Nearby Alternatives

If Canyamel is flat or blown out, the north and east coasts of Mallorca offer a handful of beachbreaks that can activate on larger NE swells. S and SW options on the island pick up different swell windows and can be worth exploring when the northeast coast is uncooperative.
