A rivermouth sandbar south of Morro Negrito camp delivers some of the longest rides in Panama, with 200-400m waves peeling down both sides of the triangle depending on swell direction. S to SW swells are the engine here, and northerly offshores clean things up nicely. The triangle shape means a genuine A-frame setup: softer shoulders on one side, crumbling faster sections on the other, giving different options depending on where you position in the lineup. It suits a wide skill range, from improvers working on linking turns to intermediate surfers clocking serious distance. Crowds are manageable but the camp brings a regular rotation of guests. Bottom: rivermouth sandbar. Season: S swell season, roughly April through October. Consistency: high, though Coiba island's shadow can rob size. Watch the dropping tide carefully as current can run hard through the channel, making the paddle back a real workout without the camp boat.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lineup pressure tracks the surf camp's occupancy. Early mornings before breakfast tend to be quietest. No notable localism, but the boat-dependent access means most people in the water are camp guests, which creates its own rhythm. Respect the rotation and you'll be fine.

Access & Facilities

Access runs through Morro Negrito surf camp. No standalone facilities at the break itself. The camp boat is genuinely useful here given the distance paddled from shore and the tidal current on the way out. Water quality carries an estuary flag, so cover cuts before paddling. Parking is restricted to the camp area.

Nearby Alternatives

When the rivermouth isn't firing, the camp is within reach of Emily's and a second rocky left for competent surfers, plus Nestles, a short explosive peak to the east where tube time is on offer for experienced surfers. These give solid options when the sandbar goes soft or the tide pulls the peak apart.
