A mellow left-hand reef on the NE-facing coast near Cape Naturaliste, Rocky Point picks up SW to W swells wrapping around the cape and delivers sloping walls that suit surfers still building their repertoire. Offshore winds here are SW, which lines up well when the region's dominant swell direction is running. Works from around 3ft and holds to overhead-plus before maxing out. The crowd is generally light, partly because the walk from the car park on Eagle Bay Rd filters out the casual visitor. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: April through September. Consistency: medium. Bring a mid-length or a fish on smaller days to make the most of the shorter ride sections.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends are described as empty to light. The car park walk naturally keeps numbers manageable. The lineup is beginner-to-intermediate friendly, so expect learners and longboarders rather than an aggressive shortboard crew. Standard lineup etiquette applies.

Access & Facilities

Park on Eagle Bay Rd and walk to the water. No facilities on site, so bring water and food. Dunsborough is the nearest town for supplies. No significant hazards or pollution noted, but reef shoes are worth considering for entry and exit.

Nearby Alternatives

Bunkers Bay, around the headland, holds several beginner-oriented beach breaks and reefs including The Farm, Boneyards, and The Quarries, all working on similar SW-W swell and wind conditions. Continuing around Cape Naturaliste opens up the west-facing coast with a longer stretch of breaks for when you want more exposure to open ocean swell.
