A point break tucked into the Mazatlán waterfront that punches above its weight, Valentinos delivers hollow, fast peaks off a recognizable headland flanked by a nightclub landmark. The wave responds to NW-W swells from 3-5ft and starts to show real character above that range, with offshore winds from the SE keeping faces clean. It suits experienced surfers who can read a rocky bottom and react quickly to short, punchy sections. Weekdays keep the lineup thin, weekends draw a crowd, so arrive early or stay flexible. Bottom: point over rock. Season: late autumn through winter for consistent NW swell. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. If the primary right is closing out or sectioning badly, a left peel wraps around the far side of the headland, but stay alert for submerged rock shelves that expose as the wave draws water off the bottom.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday sessions run quiet, sometimes just a handful of surfers. Weekends flip the script and the lineup fills up. No specific localism reports, but as with any city break, respectful surfing goes a long way. Dawn patrol on weekdays is the obvious move for uncrowded conditions.

Access & Facilities

Mazatlán city centre is the base. Skip the car: bus or taxi puts you directly in the zone. The Valentinos nightclub headland is the landmark. McDonald's nearby marks the general area. No formal surf facilities on site, but the city has everything you need within walking distance. Watch rocks closely during paddle-out and on shallow sections through the wave.

Nearby Alternatives

Mazatlán has additional beach and point breaks scattered along the coast that pick up similar NW swells when Valentinos isn't cooperating. A short taxi ride north or south along the Sinaloa coast opens up beach break options for smaller or more disorganized swell.
