A-frame · BeachBeginner → Advanced2–8 ftApr – Oct

A-frame beach peaks north of Mazatlan offering a sandy-bottom escape from the rocky, crowded left pointbreaks in town. SW, SSW, and S swells push multiple peaks left and right along a wide stretch of beach, working best from waist-high to double overhead. NE to E winds are the window here, and it closes fast once the breeze swings onshore through the afternoon. Open to beginners through advanced surfers, the lineup is genuinely mellow with a scattered crowd most days, though locals can be protective when conditions align. Bottom: sand. Season: April through October. Consistency: moderate, wind-dependent. Get there early before onshore winds arrive and ruin an otherwise fun session.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowd levels are mellow by default, partly because it sits removed from central Mazatlan. Locals are listed as protective at a 5/5 local vibe rating, so read the lineup, take your turn, and keep a low profile. This is not a spot to paddle in and start hunting sets aggressively.

Access & Facilities

A short drive north of Mazatlan. After heavy rain, a proper 4WD or high-clearance vehicle is necessary. The beach vegetation is thick to the east. Bring your own water and snacks. Being further from the harbor keeps water quality clean.

Nearby Alternatives

If Rucos is blown out or the swell isn't cooperating, the left pointbreaks closer to Mazatlan pick up more swell and are more sheltered from certain wind angles, though expect a busier lineup. Checking the points north of town is a reasonable backup when SSW swell is running at size.
