A thick, grinding left-hand barrel that detonates off an outside boil before sucking hard along the base of a sheer cliff inside Malok Bay, Supersuck earns its name on Sumbawa's southwest corner. It needs a minimum 8ft swell with west in it to bend around the headland that blocks the SE trade winds. SW to W swells are the trigger, SE winds are ideal, and medium tide keeps it from becoming unrideable. This is an experts-only wave: the barrel is long, dangerously shallow, and the reef is sharp enough that wiping out is a genuine consequence. Bottom: coral reef. Season: April to September. Consistency: fickle, with many swells bypassing it entirely. Access is by boat charter only, so factor in logistics and plan around swell windows carefully, because getting caught out here unprepared is not an option.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lineup is mellow and localism is essentially non-existent given the remote boat-access location. Crowd levels depend entirely on how many surf boats are anchored in the bay. Outside of peak swell events it stays quiet. Respect the wave, respect the boat crews, and this lineup runs smoothly.

Access & Facilities

Boat charter is the only way in. There are no shore facilities, no parking, no food or water on site. Come stocked. The water is clean. The primary hazards are the shallow reef and the wave itself: getting pitched means hitting coral at speed.

Nearby Alternatives

When Supersuck isn't firing, the broader Sumbawa coast offers options. Sekongkang and Yo-Yo's are accessible from similar boat routes and provide more forgiving reef setups when the swell lacks the west component Supersuck demands.
