A deep-reef channel wave south of Lakey Peak, Cobblestones rewards the extra effort it takes to reach it with walled-up rights and barrelling lefts that pick up more swell than the main Lakey area. Best at mid to high tide on S to SW groundswell, 2-10ft, with easterly offshores grooming both peaks cleanly. The rights wall and section, the lefts barrel hard into the channel opposite, and a notoriously unforgiving end section known as the Cheeze Grater catches out anyone who doesn't exit early. Intermediate to advanced surfers only. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: Apr-Oct dry season swell window. Consistency: high when swell is running. Bring a step-up for solid size days, and be aware the wave draws a concentrated pool of experienced surfers precisely because it outperforms its neighbors when everywhere else goes small.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The walk or zodiac ride filters out casual visitors, but the wave's reputation pulls traveling shortboarders and a sharp-end crew when it's on. Community reports it draws top-level surfers specifically because of the tube and the challenge. Weekends get crowded relative to the remote setting. Respect priority, call your waves early, and study the Cheeze Grater before paddling out.

Access & Facilities

Reach it by a 45-minute walk south of Lakey Peak or by renting a zodiac, which saves legs for the session. No parking, no facilities, no food or water on-site. Pack everything you need. The reef is exposed at low tide, so time your paddle-out for mid tide and watch the inside section on your exit.

Nearby Alternatives

When Cobblestones is too big or closed out, Lakey Peak is 400m north with its A-frame rights and lefts into channels. Lakey Pipe is just south of the Peak for a gnarlier reef option. On small days with NW winds, the south coast at Dedjoeng occasionally delivers quality rights.
