A submerged reef setup off Bali's east coast delivers both rights and lefts, with the rights capable of peeling for several hundred meters when conditions align. Optimal swell is S to SW, with NW offshore winds keeping faces clean. The rights demand lower tide and a solid S-SW swell push, while the lefts are more forgiving across tidal stages. Intermediate surfers will find enough here to keep busy, and the crowd is lighter than the better-known Sanur reef to the north. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: April through October. Consistency: medium. Bring a board that handles fast, sectiony waves, as the patchy coral cover means not every wave delivers a clean face from start to finish.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lighter than Sanur on most days, though it can fill up when Sanur is pumping and surfers spread out along the reef. The easy channel access keeps things relatively civil. Respect the locals and take note that wave selection matters here: the patchy reef punishes poor positioning.

Access & Facilities

Situated in front of the Tanjung Sari hotel strip on the east coast. No dedicated parking or facilities on site. Water quality is generally fine with no major pollution concerns. Reef hazards are present but not severe, booties are worth considering for shallow sections at lower tide.

Nearby Alternatives

Sanur reef to the north is more consistent and better known when a solid swell is running. When the east coast is flat, the south Bali reefs around Kuta and Seminyak are a short drive and offer far more reliable options across a wider swell window.
