Shifting reef peaks off the Bukit Peninsula bend all available S and SW swell into a 2km arc of coral, producing powerful right-hand bowls and long carving walls that reward commitment. Best from 3ft to 12ft, it works on S to SW swells with NW winds offshore and handles size better than most Bali setups. Low to mid tide sharpens the lips, all tides are rideable but the wave gets heavier and more unpredictable as the swell climbs. Intermediate to advanced surfers only: the open-water location, strong lateral drift, and shifting peaks punish hesitation, and the lineup is moderately crowded but welcoming. Bottom: lava rock coral-encrusted reef. Season: October to April (wet season peak). Consistency: high. Hire a boat from the beach near the resort strip rather than attempting the long paddle against a persistent northward current, especially on bigger days.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowd is moderate to busy on weekends and during the dry season when Bukit spots close out. The wet season (October to April) brings fewer bodies and better, more consistent surf. The local vibe is relaxed and welcoming, but respect the lineup order. Dropping in or burning the boat crew will not go unnoticed.

Access & Facilities

The break sits offshore with no direct beach access. Hire a small boat from the beach near the resort strip. There is no parking or public facility at the launch point. Budget for return boat transport, especially on big days when paddling back against the current is genuinely exhausting. Water quality is clean.

Nearby Alternatives

When Nusa Dua is too big or closing out, Serangan to the north catches similar E-facing swell with a more manageable paddle. On smaller days, the Bukit's west-coast reefs pick up SW groundswell and offer familiar right-hand setups if the east side is flat or blown out.
