Bali's longest left point reels down a smooth cobblestone and sand shelf on the island's west coast, delivering long walling rides that feel more like Southern California than Indonesia. S to SW swell is the trigger, ideally 2-8ft, with light land breezes or E trade-winds keeping faces clean. Mid to high tide fills in the point nicely, though it handles most tides. A welcoming lineup suits every ability, from beginners logging easy rides to local rippers threading air 360s on the inside sections. Bottom: cobblestone and sand point. Season: April to October dry season. Consistency: high when swell direction is right. Beware water quality after rain, with two river mouths nearby dumping pollution into the lineup, plus the two-hour drive from Kuta makes an overnight stay in the losmens on the point the smart play.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is generally relaxed and welcoming, but local rippers have been known to drop in on surfers they consider unskilled. Show respect, give waves, and the Medewi boys are genuinely hospitable. Weekends are quieter than Kuta equivalents, but the spot's reputation draws a wide mix of abilities. Dawn patrol significantly reduces pressure.

Access & Facilities

Direct parking on the point. Surf schools operate nearby. Enter east of the point between the rocks, and avoid touching them as rough surfaces cut skin. Water turns cloudy and polluted after rain due to adjacent river mouths. Stay on the point itself to skip the long Kuta commute.

Nearby Alternatives

Black sand beachbreak and rivermouth peaks stretch in both directions along the west coast, though quality varies and pollution is a concern near river outlets. Heading south, Balian is the next check-worthy stop before the drive back toward Canggu.
