A shifty reef-and-sand beachbreak north of Canggu that occasionally pulls together into a punchy right-hander, with the odd hollow section when the swell cooperates. S and SW swells from 3ft up get it moving, overhead-plus starts to reveal its better shape. East to NE winds keep the face clean, and the SE trade winds that blow from roughly April to October deliver both those winds and the most reliable swell. All tides work, though the wave character shifts noticeably with size. Skill range is wide, from funboarders to shortboarders chasing the barrel sections, and the crowd stays thin enough that you rarely fight for waves. Bottom: rock and sand mixed. Season: April to October. Consistency: moderate, fickle on average days. Arrive before noon, when the afternoon trades pick up chop and make the already-shifty peak harder to read.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday mornings before 10am you may have the peak to yourself or share it with a handful of locals. The vibe is welcoming. Being close to the busier breaks of Canggu and Echo Beach means overflow crowds can appear, but Berawa's access road keeps numbers down. Respect in the water is appreciated.

Access & Facilities

Parking is directly at the beach. Berawa sits one beach south of Batu Bolong, but the access road runs separately from the main Canggu route, so factor in extra travel time from Kerobokan and nearby areas. Water quality is generally clean but can cloud up after heavy rain. Watch for submerged rocks on the inside at lower tide.

Nearby Alternatives

When Berawa is closing out or going flat, the more consistent peaks at Echo Beach and Batu Bolong are a short drive away and pick up the same S and SW swells. Canggu's main stretch offers more defined banks if you need a longer wall.
