A right-hander breaks at the entrance to Suva Harbour, making Lighthouse one of the few accessible urban surf options in Fiji's capital. It works on SE to SW swell with a NW offshore wind, and handles a surprisingly wide size range, technically starting to show form around 3-4ft but holding into double-overhead territory on bigger pulses. The setup is inconsistent, which is the honest truth, and maritime traffic plus the surrounding residential and commercial waterfront means water quality can be questionable on any given day. Intermediate surfers will find enough to work with on a good day, though the short ride length and variable conditions mean expectations should stay measured. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: SE swell season, roughly May through October. Consistency: medium. Arrive at dawn before boat traffic builds and check conditions from the water before committing to a full session.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowds are reportedly sparse, and the logistical effort of getting here by boat keeps numbers low overall. The harbour setting and inconsistency filter most visiting surfers toward better-known setups around the capital. Show standard respect in a small lineup.

Access & Facilities

A short boat ride from the Suva Yacht Club is the standard approach. No parking, no facilities on site. Factor in boat hire costs and check pollution conditions before paddling out. Maritime traffic is a real hazard, so keep awareness up throughout the session.

Nearby Alternatives

When Lighthouse is blown out or flat, the Kadavu Island chain to the south offers crowd-free reef passes including rights and lefts on the Great Astrolabe Reef, though the added flight expense is real. Closer to Suva, regional editorials notes a few reef options scattered along the coast that pick up SE trades differently.
