Santinho delivers powerful beachbreak peaks along an undeveloped stretch of Santa Catarina Island's northeast coast, about 30 minutes from Florianópolis center. The north end of the beach picks up the most swell and fires best in E to S swells from 2ft up, with N to NW winds keeping faces clean. Waves are punchy and can get hollow, particularly during autumn and winter when swell consistency rises. Weekends draw serious crowds, and the Community reports warn to show clear respect in the lineup. Bottom: submerged reef and beach. Season: autumn and winter strongest, workable year-round. Consistency: high. Bring a 3/2 wetsuit for winter sessions and read the wind carefully before committing to the drive, as Santinho's orientation means it can go onshore fast when the wind swings south.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends can get ultra-crowded, especially near the Costão do Santinho resort. Locals have a reputation for protecting their lineup. Dawn patrol on weekdays is the move. Keep respectful, wait your turn, and don't paddle straight for the peak on arrival.

Access & Facilities

About 30 minutes by car from Florianópolis center with a carpark on site. Camping is available nearby. No major pollution or hazard concerns flagged, though the submerged reef warrants awareness at lower water.

Nearby Alternatives

When Santinho is blown out or maxed, Joaquina to the south is Santa Catarina's most consistent beachbreak and handles most swell directions. Praia Mole offers S-wind protection for smaller days. Ferrugem, further south, is a multi-directional swell magnet worth the extra drive.
