A fast, powerful point-break off the Bombinhas peninsula, Quatro Ilhas punches above its weight for a South Brazilian setup. It picks up swell from a wide window and starts firing at under 1m, maxing out well above 8ft on bigger days. SW and S swells are the primary drivers, with offshore winds from the NW keeping faces clean. Mid to high tide tends to fill in the sections and add length on good days. Experienced surfers will find the most reward here, the wave moves quickly and rewards committed surfing rather than hesitation. Weekdays see a manageable crew, but weekends draw crowds, so an early start is your best insurance. Bottom: point. Season: autumn and winter (April through August). Consistency: moderate to good. Bring a shortboard suited to fast, punchy walls and plan around the tidal cycle for the best combinations of power and length.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday sessions are relatively uncrowded, but weekends flip the script and the lineup fills up. Bombinhas is a popular coastal town, so summer weekends are the most pressured. Locals have priority as always. Dawn patrol or arriving mid-week will give you the best chance at uncrowded peaks.

Access & Facilities

Bombinhas sits south of Itapema on the SC coast, between Itapema and Florianópolis. The town has accommodation, food, and surf shops. Check local conditions before paddling out, as the peninsula can generate tricky currents around the point. Watch for urchins on the bottom at lower tides.

Nearby Alternatives

When Quatro Ilhas is too crowded or the swell angle is off, the broader Bombinhas peninsula has other beach and point options to explore. Florianópolis, roughly an hour south, opens up a wide range of breaks across multiple swell and wind conditions.
