Prainha do Farol de Santa Marta
- Prainha do Farol de Santa Marta is a right over beach, short hollow right beach-break with two tubular sections.
- Beginner to advanced ability, working 3-8 ft.
- Peak April to September, water 18-25°C.
A compact beach-break tucked inside the Farol de Santa Marta headland, Prainha punches above its size when a NE to N swell lines up correctly. It needs 3-5ft of swell to switch on and can hold faces above 8ft, with the right bank producing short but genuine right-handers with two distinct tubular sections. Mid to high tide tends to fill out the barrel, low tide can expose the bank and speed things up too fast for clean sections. SW to W winds are your friend here. Weekdays the lineup stays empty enough to work every set. Weekends bring local and tourist crowds that can stack up quickly, especially in summer. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn and winter for consistency and lighter crowds. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. Reach the spot via the short ferry crossing to Farol, then follow the road toward the lighthouse. Cardoso Beach nearby offers a longer, more consistent alternative when Prainha is not breaking.
