A south swell magnet south of Seaside Heights, Seaside Park picks up S, SSE, and SE energy noticeably faster and bigger than spots further up the Jersey Shore. When Manasquan is barely showing signs of a small S swell, this stretch of Ocean County can be running twice the size and reeling down the sandbar. Best from waist-high to well overhead, mid tide tends to organize the banks, while W to WNW winds groom the surface. Rights are the dominant offering, though lefts appear depending on sandbar configuration. Hurricane season, September through November, is the money window when S and SE swells arrive with real size and shape. The spot suits all levels on small days, but when it steepens up fast on bigger sets you need to be able to read the peak. Bottom: Sand. Season: September to March. Consistency: Moderate. Dawn patrol on weekdays is your best shot at open space in the lineup.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Ultra crowded on summer weekends, and D Street specifically draws a denser pack. Localism is moderate and generally manageable, but respect the pecking order on bigger days when shoulder burn is real. The crowd thins out significantly in fall and winter, which lines up with the best swells anyway. Go early, go late, go on weekdays.

Access & Facilities

Beach access requires a beach badge in season, standard for this stretch of the Jersey Shore. Parking and access are straightforward compared to Seaside Heights to the north. Rip currents are a genuine hazard, especially during larger swells. Watch the shallow bottom on the inside. Summer tourist traffic clogs the beach and nearby roads.

Nearby Alternatives

If Seaside Park is maxed out or the banks are blown out, Manasquan Inlet to the north provides a more structured sandsbar setup and handles N swells better. Island Beach State Park, just south, offers a more isolated stretch of beach break with lighter crowds if you're willing to walk.
