South of Manasquan Inlet, Jenkinson's delivers a punchy, wedgy beach break that ledges hard on solid E and ENE swells, producing steep peaks that favor experienced surfers comfortable with fast drops and quick sections. It works best on E to ESE swell from shoulder-high to well overhead, with W to WNW winds grooming the face. Any tide can fire depending on swell angle, but the wave quality shifts significantly with sandbar movement. Crowds get heavy fast when it's on, and the vibe in the lineup is legitimately intimidating on the right swell. Localism is real here. Bottom: sand. Season: September through March, with peak action in fall and winter northeasters. Consistency: moderate to good in season. Watch the jetty on either side of the inlet closely, especially if currents are running, as getting pushed into the structure is a genuine hazard not just a warning label.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is a heavy crowd spot with a real local hierarchy. On the right NE or E swell, the lineup fills quickly with experienced, territorial surfers. If you're visiting, read the lineup before paddling out, wait your turn, and don't snake. Dawn patrol in fall is the best way to get quality waves with less friction.

Access & Facilities

Pay parking lots service the beach and fill fast in summer. Street parking is limited and unreliable on good days. Restrooms and food options are available along the Point Pleasant Beach strip nearby. The jetty is the primary physical hazard. Stay clear of it when currents are active.

Nearby Alternatives

Manasquan Inlet itself, just north, offers its own jetty-influenced peaks and can shift in quality when Jenks is too crowded or the swell angle doesn't suit. Further south, Seaside Park and Island Beach State Park offer more spread-out beach peaks when the crowds here are too thick.
