The pier structure itself influences the break, so shifting sandbars mean the peak moves around seasonally. From Atlantic Avenue, turn onto Essex Ave and follow it toward the water. Street parking fills fast on weekends, arrive early or expect a walk. The broader Margate area has food, water, and conveniences close by. Watch the rip currents along the pier structure, especially when swells are overhead or bigger.
When Margate Pier is flat or maxed out, Ventnor Beach to the south picks up a similar swell and offers more open beach break options. Atlantic City's north side jetties are a short drive and can hold bigger swells with more defined shape.
