A classic New Jersey beach break, 10th St. Sits at the southern end of Ocean City's designated surf zone, where jetty-built sandbars push up peaky lefts and rights from waist-high to shoulder-high. NE to SE swells are the engine here, with NW offshores grooming the faces and shaping the peaks off the jetty walls. It suits beginners and progressing intermediates well, though the lineup fills up fast when a decent swell arrives, so expect moderate to heavy crowd pressure on good days. Bottom: sand with nearby rocky jetties. Season: fall through early winter for the most consistent shape. Consistency: moderate. Be aware that summer daytime surfing is restricted in Ocean City's beach zones, so early morning sessions are your best window during peak season, and give the jetty rocks a wide berth on the paddle-out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Ocean City draws a heavy summer tourist crowd, and the surf zone between 1st and 10th Streets concentrates surfers into a defined area. On a good fall swell, the lineup gets competitive. Localism is mild by NJ standards, but standard lineup etiquette applies. Dawn patrol mid-week in fall rewards patience with fewer bodies in the water.

Access & Facilities

Ocean City is a well-serviced beach town with street-end access, public parking (metered in season), restrooms, and boardwalk amenities nearby. Surf shops along the strip offer rentals and forecasts. Watch the rocky jetty bases on entry and exit, particularly at lower tides.

Nearby Alternatives

When 10th St. Is blown out or too crowded, the other jetty peaks between 1st and 9th Streets offer similar setups worth checking. Further north, Asbury Park and Manasquan Inlet pick up more swell and suit surfers ready to step up in wave size and crowd intensity.
