A fast, hollow jetty right peeling off the north wall of Manasquan Inlet is the best-quality wave on the Jersey Shore and a genuine regional benchmark. The setup works on S to SE swell from 2ft to well overhead, with N to NW winds holding it clean and mid tide generally the sweet spot before it shallows out on the push. A secondary left breaks back into the pocket alongside the jetty wall, shorter and more bowly but worth riding when the right is maxed out. Experienced shortboarders are the target audience here, this is not a spot to work on your pop-up when the lineup is stacked. Bottom: sand over rock jetty structure. Season: Sep through Apr. Consistency: reliable whenever swell runs. Plan around summer restrictions: no surfing 9am to 5pm during peak beach season, which conveniently makes the dawn patrol the only viable window on warm weekends.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowds are intense, routinely ultra-crowded with a clear local hierarchy. Longboarders will sit wide and pick off sets. There is moderate localism, but respectful surfers generally avoid friction. Weekday mornings in autumn and winter thin the crowd considerably. Summer daylight hours are restricted from 9am to 5pm, so dawn patrol is essential if you visit between June and August.

Access & Facilities

Parking near the inlet is limited and can require a beach badge in season. The paddle-out is straightforward alongside the jetty structure, use the channel rather than paddling through the break. Watch for submerged rocks and jetty boulders near the wall, especially on lower tides. Manasquan town has food, fuel, and surf shops nearby.

Nearby Alternatives

If Manasquan is blown out or maxed, Belmar to the north offers multiple beach peaks that handle smaller, messier swells better. Spring Lake and Sea Girt pick up similar swell with less crowd pressure on weekday sessions.
