A sand-bar break along the Jersey Shore that punches above its weight when fall swells align with offshore west winds. Bradley Beach sits between jetties on the Monmouth County coast, picking up NE and SE groundswell in the 2-8ft range. Mid tide is the sweet spot, keeping the banks from going too fat or too hollow. Summers are consistent but mostly small, running 2-3ft with variable winds that rarely clean things up. Fall is the payoff: west winds go offshore, groundswells stack up, and the jetty-anchored bars can produce long, peeling walls well overhead. A wide skill range paddles out here, from learners on small summer days to more experienced surfers chasing the autumn bump. Weekends draw significant crowds, especially in summer. Bottom: sand-bar with jetty influence. Season: fall peak, summer for beginners. Consistency: moderate. Arrive early on good forecast days, particularly in fall, or the lineup fills fast.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends in summer bring heavy crowds across the Jersey Shore corridor, and Bradley Beach is no exception. The vibe is generally relaxed without serious localism, but expect a packed lineup on any forecasted swell from June through August. Weekday fall sessions are significantly quieter and the quality is noticeably better.

Access & Facilities

Take I-195 east toward the Shore, connect to Ocean Blvd north through Belmar to reach Bradley Beach. Street parking is available along the oceanfront. The town has restrooms, outdoor showers, and food options nearby. No major hazards beyond the jetty rocks at either end of the break, which require attention when the swell has size.

Nearby Alternatives

Belmar to the south and Asbury Park to the north offer similar sand-bar setups and are worth checking on the same run. Spring Lake holds a slightly more consistent bank when Bradley Beach's bars are out of shape.
