Northern Baja's most celebrated pointbreak delivers rare, transcendental right-handers that have earned a reputation as the thickest, most hollow point on the North American West Coast. Located north of Ensenada, Salsipuedes rewards patience: swell must wrap nearly 90 degrees into the bay and travel three miles of inside bayshore before reaching the point. The main right fires exclusively on large W to NW winter groundswells, 6-12ft, at extremely low tide, while a separate A-frame reef near the top of the point offers bowly lefts and sectiony rights on more modest overhead surf. The point suits intermediate to advanced surfers, the reef is accessible to a wider range, but SoCal crews flood both when it's on. Bottom: rock and sand. Season: November to March. Consistency: medium, it can be fickle. Road access has been blocked since 2007 when a condo development gated the property, so arrive by boat or get turned around at the gate.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

There are no real locals given the boat-access-only reality, and the vibe in the water is reportedly welcoming. But when the point is firing, SoCal's experienced crowd shows up in force. Expect a heavy lineup on any significant day. Go early, respect the pecking order, and don't expect charity on a solid set.

Access & Facilities

No land access since 2007. A boat is the only way in. There are no facilities on site. Launch from Ensenada and plan accordingly with food, water, and fuel. Shallow rock sections demand attention on the inside, and the primary hazard is a long boat ride for skunked conditions on an inconsistent break. Check forecasts obsessively before committing.

Nearby Alternatives

San Miguel to the north is a fast, powerful right point that fires on the same W-NW window and gets crowded but is land-accessible. K38 and K58/La Fonda offer consistent barreling beachbreak options closer to Ensenada if the point isn't cooperating.
