Crowd & Localism
Access filters the crowd naturally. Weekend counts stay low, and the 4WD-only road keeps day-trippers away. Respect campers already set up at the laguna and give locals space in the lineup.
One of Baja's 'Seven Sisters' points, Punta Blanca is a right-hand reef pointbreak that rewards experienced surfers willing to earn it via rough 4WD access north of El Cotillo. It fires on SW to W swell with NW offshores cleaning up the face, and holds from around 5-6ft up to double-overhead-plus before closing out. A rip current running left of the peak gives you a fast paddle channel to the lineup, but that same rip can run hard enough to sweep unprepared surfers wide. Bottom: reef. Season: fall through winter, when W and NW groundswells stack up. Consistency: medium. Bring a step-up and a leash you trust on bigger days, and camp nearby if you want first light sessions before any other vehicles make it out on the dirt road.

Head north from El Cotillo on dirt road. After roughly 10 minutes you will pass campers near a small laguna. The reef is on the laguna's north side. No formal parking or services. Camping is the practical option. Pack water, fuel, and all supplies before leaving pavement.
The Seven Sisters stretch north and south along this coast, so if Punta Blanca is too big or too small, neighboring points like Punta Negra or Punta Rosalillita may be dialing in on the same swell window. Punta Santa Rosalillita is worth checking on major W swells.
