A walling left that occasionally tubes over an ill-defined submerged reef, Tiger Tracks Left sits roughly an hour from the G-Land surf camps in Java's Alas Purwo jungle coast. It needs S to W swell, preferably with a westerly component to wrap into the bay, and mid to high tide to clear the sharp coral beneath. Best in the 3-8ft range, it suits intermediate to advanced surfers and rewards the effort with a near-empty lineup. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: May through October. Consistency: high during the dry-season swell window. Bring a board that can handle a walling left with occasional tube sections, and do not paddle out at low tide since the exposed coral is unforgiving.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The distance is the filter. The walk takes most people away and the lineup routinely holds just a handful of surfers, sometimes nobody. There is no reported localism, but respect the place and keep it quiet. Midweek mornings are your best bet for solitude.

Access & Facilities

Getting here requires either a long walk along the truck path from G-Land camp or arranging a ride. There are no facilities, no parking, and no food at the break. Bring water and reef booties. The coral is sharp and shallow at low tide, so time your session carefully.

Nearby Alternatives

Tiger Tracks Right sits just across the sandy bay and offers a more forgiving righthander when the left is not cooperating. G-Land's main point is an hour back toward camp and handles bigger swells with far more power.
