A punchy reef break tucked between Anyer and Carita on Java's Banten coast, Pasauran delivers occasional 4-6ft barrels when the swell lines up. It needs 5-6ft of swell to wake up and can hold 10ft-plus on a big day, best approached at mid tide when the reef isn't dangerously exposed. SW swells and offshore winds are the target combination. The wave itself is short by nature, under 50m on a normal day and stretching to 150m on a good one, so position matters. Intermediates and above will get the most from it, beginners should sit this one out given the shallow reef and the catch-inside risk. Bottom: coral reef. Season: consistent when regional swells run. Consistency: moderate, check swells before making the drive. Low tide on small swells makes the reef a serious hazard, and duck-diving inside is not an option here.
Weekdays are largely empty. Weekends bring more surfers, and the lineup can feel competitive. Locals from the nearby Bandulu and Carita cottages are part of the scene and sometimes paddle out with visiting surfers. Respect them, share waves, and the session will be fine.
About 20 minutes from Anyer by road between Anyer and Carita. Parking is available at Nurul Fikri cottages for a small fee, which is the more straightforward option. Anyer and Carita both have local break options when Pasauran is too small or too big. Local surfers based at the cottage communities in either town are the best source of current conditions and alternative peaks in the area.
