A long, wrapping right-hand point in east Marseille that shelters behind the headland from the tearing Mistral, giving it an unusual edge over most Mediterranean setups. Needs SE to SW swell in the 5-8ft range to get properly hollow over the flat rock shelf, it starts working around 5ft and can hold the biggest SW groundswells the Med throws. The wave suits intermediate surfers and above, but the lineup is always competitive and crowd pressure is constant. Bottom: flat rocks. Season: October to April. Consistency: medium. Bring booties for the urchins and expect a rip current on bigger days.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is one of Marseille's most consistent quality setups, and the lineup reflects that. Crowds are constant, the vibe is competitive, and weaker surfers get marginalised fast. Arrive at dawn to get anything resembling a quiet session. Respect the priority order and don't sit on the inside trying to sneak sets.

Access & Facilities

Parking is restricted near the headland, so arriving early matters twice over. No facilities on site. Les Lecques harbour is close. Watch for urchins on the rock shelf and check the rip before paddling out on bigger swells.

Nearby Alternatives

When it's too small or too crowded, the grande plage des Lecques works for longboards, SUPs, and average-surf days. When E wind and swell are running, check towards the Ciotat for alternatives. Six-Fours peninsula offers the widest swell window in the area and is worth the drive when conditions there are cleaner.
