A submerged reef tucked deep inside the bay of Bandol throws a short but hollow right and a longer left when the Mediterranean aligns correctly. It needs a solid S to W swell of at least 3-5ft to get going, with NW (Mistral) winds blowing offshore to clean up the face. The bay's sheltered position means consistency is low, so sessions here are earned, not expected. This is an expert wave: shallow rocks, short ride windows, and occasional localism demand respect and experience. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: low. Arrive at dawn on a strong Mistral forecast with a proper swell running, or don't bother paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends attract a crowd for the region, and Community reports aggressive local pressure at times. Non-locals should read the lineup carefully, wait their turn, and surf with humility. On a firing day with rocks underneath, the last thing you want is a confrontation mid-session.

Access & Facilities

A car park is nearby but no surf facilities on site. The town of Bandol has cafes, restaurants, and supplies within a short walk. No recorded pollution or specific hazards beyond the rocks, but those rocks are reason enough for caution.

Nearby Alternatives

If Bandol is flat or blown out, the shallow ledge at Portissol to the east occasionally throws a short barrel in similar conditions. The Six-Fours peninsula offers a wider swell window and better wind exposure when the bay can't find the swell.
