A low-key left-hand point in a small fishing hamlet 26 km south of Constitución, Pellines earns its place on the map as a reliable backup when bigger, better-known breaks in the region go flat or blown out. The wave works best on SW to W swell at chest-high to slightly overhead, with a S wind keeping it clean and low or high tide both viable depending on size. Crowd pressure is almost non-existent here, but expect fisherfolk moving around the harbor and keep respectful of their space. Bottom: sand. Season: February through May. Consistency: low to moderate, functioning primarily as a fill-in option. The shoulder burn is real after a long ride down the point, so budget energy for the paddle back up and consider a fish or longboard to make the most of the smaller, slower days.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is almost always empty. Localism is not a concern, but the harbor is an active fishing area. Give the fisherfolk room, be polite, and keep gear away from working boats and nets. Dawn patrol here is rarely necessary but rewards patience over peak swell days.

Access & Facilities

Park at the harbor directly in front of the beach. The town is small, with limited shops and no surf infrastructure. Bring your own water, snacks, and any spare gear. Water quality is clean. Watch the ocean constantly, especially near the point rocks and harbor entrance, as sneaker sets can catch you off guard.

Nearby Alternatives

Constitución and other regional breaks are within 30 km north and can offer more powerful surf when swell is running. If Pellines is maxed or windy, check the more sheltered beach setups further south along the Maule coast.
