A powerful left-hander breaks off a large rock formation on the south end of this São Paulo state beach, generating a wave that runs at roughly 90 degrees to the incoming swell and produces some of the most legitimate barrels on the Ubatuba coastline. Optimal conditions are SW to SE swell from 3 to 6ft, light offshore winds, and low to mid tide when the rock-deflected peak starts throwing properly. The wave is genuinely hollow and fast, favoring advanced shortboarders who can handle quick sections and late takeoffs. Beginners will struggle here. Weekdays see a small, capable crowd, weekends bring heavy pressure from São Paulo city surfers making the drive down. Bottom: sand with rock influence. Season: March through October for consistent south swells. Consistency: moderate to good in peak season. Dawn patrol on weekdays is the move if you want uncrowded barrels.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Locals are reportedly easy-going but competitive and will catch everything if you let them. Weekends turn the lineup ultra-crowded with São Paulo day-trippers. Weekday dawn sessions are significantly quieter. Respect the locals who surf here regularly and read the rotation before paddling onto the main peak.

Access & Facilities

Praia do Felix is near Ubatuba, reachable by road from São Paulo in roughly three hours. Basic amenities exist in Ubatuba town. The beach is relatively low-key compared to the main Ubatuba breaks. Watch for submerged rocks near the peak, especially at lower tides.

Nearby Alternatives

Ubatuba has numerous beach breaks and points within a short drive. When Felix is maxed out or too crowded, check the northern beaches around Ubatuba for more sheltered options in larger swell.
