Praia do Meio offers a reliable escape from the crowds on Fernando de Noronha, with multiple beach peaks spread across a sandy bottom that handles all tides reasonably well. NW to NE swell in the 3-8ft range is the sweet spot, with southerly winds keeping faces clean. It sits closest to Vila dos Remedios, making it the most convenient paddle-out on the island, yet it draws fewer surfers than the heavy-hitters further along the coast. The wave is approachable enough for intermediates looking to log time without the pressure of a packed lineup. Bottom: sand. Season: austral winter swell season, roughly June through November. Consistency: medium. Bring a versatile shortboard or a fun-shape for small days since the peaks can be punchy but forgiving enough to experiment on between bigger sessions elsewhere on the island.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is one of the calmer lineups on Fernando de Noronha. Despite being the closest beach to the main village, the crowds tend to concentrate at Cacimba do Padre and Cachorro. Dawn patrol here means you may have peaks entirely to yourself. Respect the national park rules and any marine protection protocols in force.

Access & Facilities

No dedicated parking or facilities at the beach itself. Access is on foot or by buggy from Vila dos Remedios, which is a short distance away. Food, water, and accommodation are all based in the village. The national park entry fee applies to all visitors on the island. No notable hazards reported.

Nearby Alternatives

When Meio goes flat or gets choppy, Cachorro is just down the beach and can produce punchier lefts on a rockier section. For more performance-oriented surf, Cacimba do Padre lights up in NW swells and is the island's standout wave when it's firing.
