A hollow, fast reef break on Fernando de Noronha island that delivers serious barrels when the swell lines up from the north. Located off the same road as Cacimba do Padre, Boldro fires on N to NE swell at 3-8ft with SE winds offshore, and low to mid tide is essential to pull the wave off the shelf. This is expert-only territory: fast, wedgy takeoffs over shallow coral reward committed surfers and punish hesitation. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: austral winter, May through September. Consistency: medium. Arrive at dawn before the wind shifts and check both the left and right options, as the exact N swell angle determines which side is working.
Weekend crowds can appear but the lineup is often empty given Fernando de Noronha's remoteness and entry restrictions. Protective locals are present and should be respected. Dropping in is not tolerated. Demonstrate competence before paddling into the peak.
Follow the road toward Cacimba do Padre and turn right. There is a car park but no facilities on site. Fernando de Noronha charges an environmental preservation fee and limits visitor numbers, so accommodation and permits must be arranged well in advance. The coral bottom is sharp and booties are worth considering despite the warm water.
Cacimba do Padre, a short distance away, is the island's most celebrated wave and handles larger NW swell with more length. Cachorro offers a swift, sucky pocket break nearby. If N swell is insufficient, the beachbreak peaks at Praia do Meio can provide a lower-consequence option on mid tide.
