It needs SE to S swell and SW to W winds to fire, and works across all tides, though high tide on small days flattens into a frustrating shorebreak. The outer point fires fast with a steep barrel section before easing into a mellow sandy bay, the inside rocks produce slower, fatter rights on small swells and honest intermediate waves at head-high. Beginners will find the beachbreak crumbling and forgiving, while the main point demands respect from experienced surfers only given the steep drop over rocks. Bottom: sand over rock. Beachbreak mornings get busy as surf school fleets arrive by tuk-tuk from A-Bay. The points stay comparatively quiet because most beginners stay on the sand.
