Crowd & Localism
Rarely crowded, which is about the only strong selling point here. On a quiet weekday you may have the peak to yourself. The low crowd factor makes it a reasonable option when nearby breaks are maxing out or packed.
A short semi-closeout beachbreak tucked against the harbour wall on the Basque coast of northeast Spain, Orrua picks up NW to N swell but filters out much of the energy, producing brief, workable walls that rarely link up into anything memorable. Best at low to mid tide when more swell pushes through, with southerly winds keeping faces clean. The wave suits intermediates looking for a quiet session away from the busier options nearby, and crowds are genuinely rare here. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: medium. Be aware of estuary and residential pollution running into the lineup, particularly after heavy rain.

Park free on the road above the beach. No dedicated surf facilities on site. Summer-only amenities are limited. Pollution from the adjacent estuary and residential runoff is a real concern, avoid sessions in the 48 hours after significant rainfall.
Mundaka is the obvious priority in the area, a left rivermouth barrel that puts this wave firmly in perspective. When Mundaka is too big or too crowded, the beachbreaks around Bakio and Sopelana offer more consistent and better-quality options within reasonable driving distance.
