A punchy beach break on the Cantabrian coast near Suances, Los Locos delivers hollow lefts and rights across a mid-beach channel that doubles as your best paddle-out route. NW and W swells are the bread and butter here, with the spot picking up from under 1m and holding well past 3m on bigger pulses. Offshore winds run from the south. At low tide a cliff-hugging right emerges on the beach's east side, fast and hollow, needing at least 1.5m to wake up properly. High tide kills it unless there's genuine size on. Midweek the lineup stays light enough to score quality waves without a battle, weekends bring real crowds, especially in summer. Bottom: sand with exposed rocks at low tide. Season: autumn and winter for the best swell energy. Consistency: reliable across a wide size window. Bring a leash you trust and watch the rocks near the cliff section at low water.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays are mellow with few surfers in the water. Weekends and summer holidays pack the beach and the lineup. No heavy localism reported, but the cliff right draws a cluster when it's on. Dawn patrol on weekends is the obvious move to get your waves before the crowd builds.

Access & Facilities

From Torrelavega, follow the road to Suances and continue up to the headland. Los Locos sits left of the hill. Suances town has cafes, food, and basic amenities nearby. Water quality is generally clean. Watch for rocks near the cliff at low tide and respect red flags when conditions are dangerous.

Nearby Alternatives

Suances beach itself offers more forgiving waves when Los Locos is closing out. When the whole stretch is blown out, the nearby Ría de San Martín area can provide some wind protection.
