A mellow right-hand point tucked between the Tamraght rivermouth and a cape on Morocco's Souss coast, Banana Beach is the more forgiving neighbor to Taghazout's heavier lineup. It needs a W to NW swell of at least 1ft to start breaking, and a NE offshore wind to clean it up. Mid tide is when the point best connects, stringing together walls of 200-500m before the beachbreak sandbars section things off. Intermediates and confident beginners will enjoy the relative ease here compared to Killers or Anchor Point just down the road. Multiple surf schools operate out of Tamraght village for a reason: this wave forgives. Bottom: sand over rock. Season: Oct-Mar for reliable swell. Consistency: medium. Watch your feet on the rock and pebble inside section, and stay out entirely if the Tamraght river is running. Longboards and mid-lengths get the most out of the slower, walling sections.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends pull a real crowd. Surf schools bring learners into the water in numbers, which slows the lineup but keeps the vibe relatively mellow. Locals are described as friendly, but peak-season weekends mean competition for the better set waves. Dawn sessions before the schools set up are the most productive window.

Access & Facilities

A short walk from the main P8 Agadir-Essaouira road, just before Devil's Rock. Paid parking is available. Surf school rentals are on-site in Tamraght. The inside beach is rocky and pebbly, so reef boots or care on the walk-in are worth it. Do not surf here if the Tamraght rivermouth is flowing.

Nearby Alternatives

Killers, immediately south, is faster, more consistent, and better for shortboarders when it is firing. Devil's Rock picks up a similar swell window with a tighter right off the headland. When Banana Beach is too slow, Taghazout's main beach peaks will often have more punch.
