A short, forgiving right-hand point at the north end of Bore beach, Sele is a go-to for beginners and improvers on Norway's Jæren coast. SW to NW swells wrap around the boulder and sand point, producing fun, manageable waves in the 1-6ft range with offshore winds from the NE. The wave rarely intimidates but can get noticeably faster and punchier when a SW swell hits and the rivermouth shifts the sand. Expect a packed lineup even when it is barely breaking, as this is one of the most accessible entry-level spots in the Stavanger area. Bottom: mixed sand and boulder. Season: September through March. Consistency: medium. Bring a full 5/4 or thicker for winter sessions and dial in your timing for less crowded windows.

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This spot draws a crowd whenever there is any surf at all. Beginners and intermediates pack the lineup on weekends and after school. The atmosphere is generally mellow given the skill level of most surfers present, but expect a wait for waves. Dawn patrol on weekdays offers the best chance at space in the water.

Access & Facilities

Follow the road toward Sele and turn at the sign. A gravel road leads directly to the beach with a car park at the end. The point is visible from the car park on your right. Camping is available nearby. No significant water quality concerns or hazards reported.

Nearby Alternatives

When Sele is maxed out or too crowded, the wider Bore beach stretches south with shifting peaks on similar swell. The Jæren coastline holds numerous other spots including higher-performance reef and point options for those ready to step up.
