Fun beach peaks along a 3 km dune-backed bay south of Stavanger, Bore delivers walling lefts and rights that suit a wide range of surfers when the swell is waist to head high. SW to NW swell is the window, with easterly offshores cleaning things up nicely. Works on all tides, though it tends to go hollow around head high before closing out above that. Surf schools operate here in summer, so expect company in the warmer months, while autumn brings the best swells with noticeably thinner crowds. Bottom: mixed sand with rivermouth and boulder reef at the north end. Season: September to November peak, occasional summer surf. Consistency: moderate, picks up swell better than most nearby beaches. The northern end of the bay holds a rivermouth and a boulder reef that can produce cleaner, more defined waves when the main beach is maxing out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lineup vibe is genuinely welcoming, with a localism rating sitting at the friendlier end of the scale. Summer draws surf schools and beginners to the campsite-backed beach, so expect more bodies in the water from June through August. September into November is the move if you want quality swell with room to breathe.

Access & Facilities

Large parking area directly behind the dunes in the middle of the bay. Located roughly 6-7 km south of Sola beach along the coast from Stavanger. The beach is clean and open. No crowds midweek out of season. When size picks up, rips can develop and the paddle-out gets heavy, so read the beach before committing.

Nearby Alternatives

Sola Beach sits a few kilometres north and catches similar swell exposure with its own beach break peaks. The Stavanger coast holds several more options in either direction that come alive in the same SW-NW swell window.
