A consistent sandbar peak on Nova Scotia's South Shore, White Point sits inside a private beach resort that charges an $8 day-use fee but delivers left and right peaks that pick up swell from virtually any direction. Best in SW to NE swell at 2-8ft, it favors NW offshore winds and works across all tides. The sandbar produces fast, hollow beach peaks suited to beginners working with the on-site surf school and intermediates looking for punchy sections. Crowds gather in summer but stay manageable by shoulder season. Bottom: sand. Season: August through November. Consistency: medium. Bring your own board or rent from Rossignol Surf Shop, which operates out of the resort and keeps good-quality kit available.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The $8 entry fee acts as a natural filter, keeping the lineup from getting overcrowded, but the resort location means holidaymakers and learners share the water in July and August. Autumn pulls the tourist numbers down and the swell quality up. The vibe is relaxed and the presence of a surf school means beginners are expected in the water.

Access & Facilities

Pay the day-use fee at the White Point Beach Resort gate. Parking is available on-site. Rossignol Surf Shop runs rentals and lessons from the resort, making this one of the most self-contained surf setups in Nova Scotia. Lifeguards are on duty in season. No major pollution or hazard concerns.

Nearby Alternatives

When White Point is flat or blown out, Summerville Beach to the north offers breaks at both ends of its long sand stretch, including a useful rivermouth bank at the south end. Western Head's Scotts Bay right point works well on S swell with W winds and handles more size.
