A stretch of Massambada Restinga beach, Seca sits roughly halfway along an endless shoreline that absorbs E-to-S swells and runs cleanly under N winds. The swell window covers E through SW, with mid-size E-S swells producing the most workable peaks across all tide stages. At this scale of beach, the sandbar lottery is real: some sessions you score an empty peak to yourself, others you hunt for twenty minutes before finding one worth committing to. Suitable for beginners through to intermediates who want uncrowded practice reps. Bottom: sand. Season: consistent year-round with best form on mid-size E-S pulses. Consistency: medium. Pollution is flagged as commercial in this stretch, so post-rain sessions are best avoided. No facilities on site, so pack water, sunscreen, and food before you leave the car.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowds here are occasional rather than routine, and the sheer length of the beach disperses pressure effectively. If you can't find a peak to yourself on a weekend, you are not looking hard enough. Neighbouring Praia Grande draws more attention when it is firing, which can pull surfers away from Seca's banks.

Access & Facilities

Parking is available. There are no facilities on site, so self-sufficiency is essential. Commercial pollution is a known issue in this area, avoid the water for 48-72 hours after heavy rainfall. No surf rentals or food reported at the break itself.

Nearby Alternatives

Praia Grande, further along the same beach, is the go-to when a solid S swell is running and shapes some reliable lefts. Saquarema's Itauna, often called the Maracanã of surf, handles larger swells and hosts major contests when conditions align there.
