Crowd & Localism
One of the emptiest setups in the region, both midweek and on weekends. The access barrier filters the lineup naturally. No reported localism pressure, but respect the fishermen who share the boat routes.
A remote reef break off the coast of Búzios that demands commitment before you even paddle out. Access requires either a 30-minute boat ride from the local fishing village or a grueling 30-minute open-water paddle with no rest spots, no shade, and no fresh water en route. Works across all tides and activates from under 1ft, holding shape into the 8ft-plus range. The wave itself is short on smaller days (under 50m) but stretches to a proper ride on good swells. Experienced surfers only: the isolation means any incident out there is yours alone to manage. Bottom: reef. Season: year-round with some swell consistency. Consistency: moderate. Critically, sharks have been reported in the water here, including close-proximity encounters near the lineup, so surf with a partner and have a clear exit plan before you go.

Boat access from Búzios fishing village is the practical option. Paddling out solo is possible but carries real risk: 30 minutes of open water, no resting point, no water supply. Bring hydration. Surf with someone. Sharks are active in this zone.
Búzios has a string of accessible beach and reef breaks closer to town for days when committing to the paddle feels like too much. João Fernandes and Ferradura offer more protected options when S or SE swells are small.
