Lincoln City is a stretch of Oregon coast beachbreak that only earns its keep when conditions align: small, clean swell and offshore easterly wind. Most of the beach along NW 15th Street runs on sandbars that can get hollow at the right size, but the standout sub-spot is Boiler Bay just south in Depoe Bay, a right-hand tube that grinds along a wide, flat rock shelf with serious current and sharp reef lurking everywhere. SW, W, or NW swell from shoulder-high to overhead is the window, mid-to-high tide suits most setups. Best season runs June through November when summer groundswells and lighter crowds make the area viable. The beachbreak suits a wide range of skill, but Boiler Bay is strictly for experienced surfers comfortable on shallow, consequence-heavy reef. Bottom: sand and rock. Season: June to November. Consistency: moderate. Wear a leash at Boiler Bay without exception, the rocks outside will collect your board faster than you think.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Most of the beachbreak sits quiet even on weekends. Boiler Bay is the exception: shortboarders pack in when it's on, and the vibe can turn hostile. Some stink-eye and aggression have been reported there. Give respect, read the lineup, and stay out of the way until you've earned your place in the rotation.

Access & Facilities

Beachbreak: exit Highway 101 at NW 15th Street, straightforward beach access. Boiler Bay: exit into the paved wayside parking area in Depoe Bay. The trail down to the surf runs behind the guardrail at the lot entrance. Cold Oregon water year-round demands at minimum a 4/3 wetsuit, booties recommended when the reef is exposed.

Nearby Alternatives

When Lincoln City's beachbreak is blown out or flat, Road's End and the Salmon Rivermouth north of town can pick up swell, though reaching the rivermouth takes effort. Depoe Bay's Boiler Bay remains one of the more consistently surfed spots in the area when larger NW or SW swell arrives.
