Rexhame is a beachbreak south of Boston that earns its reputation as one of the more peaceful lineups on the Massachusetts South Shore. It picks up N to NE swell, which keeps it cleaner and less crowded than spots exposed to the full NE window. SW to W winds blow offshore here, and the wave works best from low to mid tide when hollow sections open up on the better peaks. Above 8ft face height or at high tide, it tends to close out and lose shape. Consistency is medium at best since the spot leans on that northerly swell direction, but when conditions align you get short punchy rides with occasional hollow sections worth getting excited about. Bottom is sand. Season runs fall through winter when NE storms deliver. A paid carpark and summer lifeguards make logistics easy, though the beach fills in summer with non-surfers. Bring a fish or longboard on smaller days to make the most of the wave count.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Rexhame stays quiet compared to more exposed Massachusetts breaks. The narrow N swell window filters out casual surfers waiting for the next NE grinder. Summer warmth draws more people but the crowd rarely exceeds a manageable number in the water. The spot comfortably holds about six surfers before it gets tight. Respectful, calm vibe overall.

Access & Facilities

Paid parking lot south of Boston, summer lifeguards on duty, and clean water. Easy beach access. No significant hazards reported, though New England water temps demand a quality wetsuit most of the year. Pack a 4/3 or heavier from fall through spring.

Nearby Alternatives

Brant Rock offers random peaks over a sand and rock mix a short distance away when Rexhame lacks shape. Green Harbor inlet's north side picks up N swell on lower tides with SW to W winds and produces steep take-offs worth checking on the same trip.
