Crowd & Localism
This is a low-pressure lineup. Weekdays you may surf alone, weekends bring a few locals at most. No notable localism reported, but standard respect protocols apply: don't snake sets and acknowledge whoever is already out.
A-frame beach peaks at a quiet stretch of Atlantic coast north of Vila do Conde, Azurara delivers two distinct waves that reward those who time the conditions right. Both the fast hollow left in the middle of the beach and the rivermouth right on the far end need a solid W to NW groundswell in the 5-8ft range to turn on, with the right also demanding a cooperative sandbar to find its triangular shape. Mid to low tide is the window here: high tide flattens or closes out both peaks, so check the tide chart before paddling out. Weekdays the lineup is effectively empty, and weekends rarely draw more than a handful of surfers. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: moderate. The rivermouth right doubles as a sheltered option when nearby spots are maxing out, making it a useful card to keep in your back pocket on bigger swells.

The beach sits in front of the Árvore campsite, easily reachable from Vila do Conde. Basic facilities near the campsite, nothing elaborate at the beachfront. The rivermouth area can produce rip currents, especially on dropping tide, so read the water before committing to a paddle-out route.
Vila do Conde's town beach handles smaller swells and is worth checking if Azurara is too raw. Further south, the consistent beach breaks around Matosinhos pick up more swell and offer more amenities when a proper ground-swell is running.
